Thanksgiving...

A time to give thanks, eat, and decorate!
Our Thanksgiving starts at 7am, when all the siblings and their families get together for breakfast and mom's house. It's about 14-15 of us – 5 of those are kids under 6. Needless to say, there's no sleeping late that day.

After that Adam and I drive up North to Franconia for a more traditional Thanksgiving with Adam's parents. This year we couldn't decide if we were going to go to a restaurant or if we were going to cook, since it's just the four of us.

At first I didn't really mind either way... but then I came upon this at HGTV.com:

And this! from the awesome girls at The Sweetest Occasion:

And I was hooked! we HAVE to have a home-made Thanksgiving! So I have spent the last two nights making a table cloth and napkins (because I couldn't find purple table cloth and napkins), finding different things to put as a center piece... and so on and so forth.

Let the holiday frenzy begin and let's see what you come up with!

Christmas List Goal

Recently I have been featured in a few treasuries in Etsy and I wanted to share it with you. Can you spot my items?

Check this awesome pink collection --> Here <--

Look at these Christmas lovelies --> Here <--

And finally, some November goodies --> Here <--

I have been spending lots of time in Etsy, and I have been finding AMAZING work... and most of them look affordable. So, this got me thinking... how about a handmade Christmas?  Wouldn't be awesome to support small business while having unique pieces?

So I decided to make this a goal: this year I will get all my Christmas presents from handmade shops, or hand make them myself.

Ok, I know, that means no Smock Gift Wrap Paper this year (sniff, sniff)... but I really want to give this a try. Also, no bottles of wine this year (sorry guys)... but, who knows! maybe Adam will teach me how to make his awesome beer!

Obviously I can't talk about them before presents are opened, but I will feature the shops I buy from, and after the holidays I will let you know about my experience and what everyone thought of the presents!

How about you? What is your plan for this holiday season?

Bittersweet Day.

Yesterday started as the best day of my life.... and ended in utter heartache. My step-grandfather, who gave me my first tabletop letterpress and all the type I own, suddenly passed away yesterday evening. He will be missed by all his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends and family. We are truly blessed to have had him for as long as we did. Grampa was the center stone of our family we will always have him in our hearts.

His funeral will be this Saturday at 10am — same day as Not Your Grandma's Craft Fair. Adam's mother has agreed to cover for me for most of the morning part of the fair.

Grampa's table-top letterpress will be at the fair, as promised, and you will be able to print your own bookmark. This press is the same one where my grandfather printed my aunt's wedding invitation.

Stop by the booth, say hello, even if I'm not there yet, just go and print. I know it'll make Grampa happy.

On Press (how ironic!)

So, I woke up today to a text message from Adam with these two pictures:

It all started a week before my opening, when I had contacted the Union Leader to see if they could cover the opening of my studio. Unfortunately they couldn't come, but they said they would like to get a picture of me and Bertha together. A couple of weeks ago they called and asked when they could come by and take a picture of us (yes, I speak of Bertha like it's my family)... I, of course, said "tomorrow!".

After having several panic attacks and leaving messages overnight to cancel the whole thing and not hearing from anyone by 9am, I decided to head over to the studio so I could meet them and let them take a picture of us. The reporter and photographer were very nice and it didn't really feel like an interview — it was more like I was prepping the press so they could take a picture of it and they were making conversation. And, if you know me, that came easy enough!

At the end I felt good, and I thought to myself "hey... at least I'll have a little corner in a newspaper that I can frame..."

Little did I know that they were going to publish a page and a half with pictures and a full article!! My chest still wants to explode with happiness.

I am so happy and grateful. Everyone that has come to the site, gone to my shop and paid attention. And all of my friends and my family who have spread the word. Thanks for helping me bring Letterpress back... and letting me do what I love to do!

Hi there...

It has been crazy busy around here! I have been working at Garnet Hill for the past two weeks in Franconia, NH. You all know my love for the north is irrational... but how can you not love it when you wake up to this (mostly) every day?

That is outside my hotel. Unfortunately you can't appreciate the extent of the mountains. On the far left (out of the pictures) there are some snow covered mountains that add such a beautiful back drop to everything! It makes you be thankful for every (very busy) day. In the meantime I have been working like crazy on my Etsy Shop. It isn't easy, but people are starting to notice my work. The holidays are coming and, I have several pieces for you: my Holiday Cardinal Cards and the Holiday Gift Tags.

The inspiration for this Holiday Card came from Adam's mom, who lives in Franconia and LOVES cardinals in the winter. I had her little sketch posted on my laptop for months, until I decided to put my modern flare on it and print it. This is a three color print, which means it has to go through the press 3 times (plus another one for scoring the card). I decided to do the snow without ink so it gave the impression of a print on the snow.

Then I designed and created a set of 6 hand fed and letterpress printed gift tags with silver and the same cardinal red.

You can purchase them at my Etsy Shop. Or you can pick them up at Not Your Grandma's Craft Fair on November 12!

For more information on the event, here's a facebook page you can like, and Event you can sign up for.

I can't wait!!! This event will be epic!
