Still alive!

Hey guys, I am back from the Dominican! It was amazing and I will post about it later. I am still trying to sort out all the pictures I took. The trip was awesome and it was incredibly hot, even though it is their "cooler season".

Today I received the beautiful Canon I had been wishing to purchase since I started this blog! I didn't know where I was going to buy it, then one day Jenna, from Sweetfineday announced she was getting a new camera. I posted on her blog that she should sell the old one so she could buy this one... and after a few weeks... I have her camera!

I feel honored to have something someone has used for over 2 years to document their family and hard work... and also, I have this surreal feeling that distance doesn't matter at all, that people aren't afraid to open up. The online community has brought together so many people from all around the world that it is silly to imagine we are alone anymore.

Jenna was kind enough to also send me some cookies and kitchen cloths from Whimsy & Spice (owned by her husband and her). Now... let me show you the difference:

Unopened package

Note from Jenna

New Camera (though my old one couldn't deal with the lighting)
And here are the amazing cookies she sent me (taken with the new camera, of course!)

I took the cookies to my mother's house so we could share them while having some tea. I also gave her one of the two kitchen cloths i received. As soon as I gave it to her she started thinking of ways she would use it: an upside-down apron seemed like the perfect way to use it, so she could read it as she went along (not that she ever measures anything!).

You can purchase the cookies and cloth here and here

And so, my friends, I finally have a new camera!! Of course, that doesn't take away from the fact that I have no idea about most of the buttons in it... but it already feels like a big change :-)

Spring Time!

So, since Adam and I are going on vacation this Friday to the beautiful Dominican Republic, I will be closing my Etsy shop until I get back.

In the mean time I didn't want to leave you empty handed, so here's another set of cards Yim and I have been working on :-)

What do you think?!
I will be posting from the DR (Dominican Republic - not Doctor), so we won't miss a bit. Soooo excited!

P.S. don't forget you can purchase the Easter Eggs card here. I'll ship them to you as soon as I get back!

Easter is coming!

Easter is pretty late this year, so we decided to start celebrating it earlier by making some beautiful designs that you can customize.

We designed this beautiful 3 color Easter eggs card, but we can't decide if it should say "Happy Easter" or make it more broad and say "Spring is here!".  What do you suggest?

Once we know what to write we will have them for sale. Oh... and here is a bit of our design and printing process

I'm not lost...

Just wandering :-)

For the past week Yim and I have been working really hard in new designs that I am more than eager to show you! We have also been doing some small prints that I wish I could show you... unfortunately (yet again) we haven't seen the sun in over a week!

But! here's a piece of good news! we have officially signed up to go see what's happening at the National Stationery Show!

Melissa from Yours Truly will also be there so we will have TONS of pictures and news for you all. Hoping Inkprint can be there next year!

First rant... sure not to be the last one.

Ok, so, one of my good friends, who happens to also be ordering some of my custom cards sent me this link today:

This is what I answered to her:

I don't even know where to begin.

First of all... letterpress is not only seen, but felt! there's no way in hell you're going to be able to print something on your laser printed and make it FEEL like letterpress.

Second... Yes, once you design your stuff, if you want it to feel like real letterpress you will have to send it to their shop, which will probably cost you the same, or even more since people will be having to make adjustments to your work.

Third!... it seems that they are offering all sorts of WOOD type, but we (real printers) can offer you REAL type! all of it. You have it? we print it.

And I could go on, and on, and on... but I'll stop there.

My thoughts? Blasphemy!
What do you think about it?

Decisions, Decisions...

Have you ever felt like you know the decisions you are making at this exact moment will mold the rest of your life? That's exactly how I feel at this moment. So many things - so many good and exciting things going on. New connections, old connections, ideas, energy, feelings... everything has come all at once.
I am happy. You should know that. I am happy with my job, with my life, with the people I have met and for the wonderful opportunities. I can't say it enough.

Today Yim and I went to Portsmouth, NH to check out Gus and Ruby. We had so much fun that I even forgot to take pictures to show you. She is as crazy about letterpress as I am, and once we got home we started brainstorming on new designs. I can't wait to show you!

Good things are coming... I can feel it in my bones!

In another note... if you're in Manchester you MUST check out Ate Doors Down. Cute little place with amazing sandwiches, wraps, salads and beer. Oh... and an awesome bartender! We will definitely go there.

If you are in Portsmouth... River House is absolutely delicious! definitely check it out.

Happy weekend!

Miracles do happen!

Today I woke up and there was this really bright light coming through the windows. I was confused... disoriented for a bit, until I realized it was THE SUN!... I jumped out of bed and opened the curtains as wide as they'd go. I could've rip them out of place if I didn't care the neighbors having a full view of my room, but I contained myself. What a wonderful way to start the day!

Sometime mid morning I got a unexpected call. On the other side of the phone there was an unfamiliar voice that said "Hi... you don't know me, but I found you through Ladies of Letterpress".

See... for a while I have been seeking for people in my area who enjoys letterpress as much as I do. My friend Melissa from Yours Truly and I talk non-stop about it, but she is in Marblehead, MA, so we rarely get together to print. I have met wonderful people on various letterpress websites but they are all too far from me. So I have been feeling a bit lonely here.

Then out of no where here comes Yim (On my way to her house I was actually dreaming she was Asian and offered me dumpling soup)... who is a fanatic of the wonderful art of Letterpress. I had the most amazing time with her and she had the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my entire life!

That, my friend, is a Chandler & Price, and it was the most amazing thing to handle it! The funny thing is that we have met up with the same people from Letterpress Things and May Day Studios!

We fell right into a friendly account of our roads to this point in our letterpress life, and even though there was no dumpling soup, we had an awesome time. She even let me take a picture of her beautiful living room.

I actually sat on every chair - each one as comfortable as the other. And look!... there's that bright light in the window!

Special thanks to Yim for having me over and sharing so much with me.
